In October 1975, the Henderson State University Archives was established by President Martin B. Garrison to preserve the history of the institution since its founding in 1890.   

The location of the Archives was moved to Huie Library in 2001 and Librarian Linda Evans is the current University Archivist.  As Archivist, Mrs. Evans collects and maintains University papers and correspondence, including official printed material, record books, minutes, committee files, financial records, and associated papers or electronic data, generated or received by the University’s administrative and academic offices in the conduct of their business, are the property of the University and constitute archival material.  See Record Types for the listings of the types of records the Archives collects.  

All administrators and faculty, who possess files, records, or documents relating to their official duties, are asked to observe the following guidelines: 

  • Material selected for preservation shall be sent to the Henderson State University Archives in the University Library.
  • The Archives welcomes privately owned material bearing on the history of the University and the surrounding community, provided that the Archives incur no obligation to retain such material as an integrated collection or in any prescribed form.
