Art exhibitions scheduled for fall

Henderson State University’s Russell Fine Arts Gallery is currently hosting Hot Off The PressII!, a student printmaking invitational exhibit that showcases the diverse printmaking techniques and talents of undergraduate students from throughout the state.

The show, which ends Oct. 24, is sponsored by the Arkansas Society of Printmakers and was juried by Ed Martin.

From Nov. 5 to Dec. 4, the gallery will present Full Circle, featuring mixed media works by Houston-based artist Laura Tyagi. Tyagi is a native Arkansas, Henderson graduate, and former educator. She takes a conceptual and process-driven approach to art making.

Her work incorporates painting, printmaking, paper sculpture, origami, and assemblage and installation. An opening reception will be held Nov. 5 from 12-1 p.m., and Tyagi will give an artist talk.

The BFA Studio and BSE Art Education Third Year Review is scheduled from Oct. 28-31. This exhibit features works from third-year students in the university’s art programs.

The gallery, located in the Russell Fine Arts Building, is open during normal university business hours. The exhibits are open to the public free of charge.

Six senior art students will present their senior exhibitions in the second-floor gallery of Huie Library this fall.
