Henderson's overall enrollment up slightly
Overall undergraduate and graduate enrollment at Henderson State University increased to 3,594 students for fall 2019, according to official census data. Combined enrollment was up slightly from 3,568 students in fall 2018.
Undergraduates account for 2,983 of the total enrollment for fall 2019, with 611 graduate students. This is compared to 3,009 undergraduate and 559 graduate students in fall 2018. Separately, an additional 460 high school students are participating in concurrent course offerings in fall 2019 compared to 390 in fall 2018.
“We are excited to welcome a new generation of Reddies to campus,” Dr. Brandie Benton, associate provost for enrollment services and admissions, said. “We have really focused on building relationships with students and families and are especially thankful to experience growth during a time when the college-going rate of public high school students has decreased.”
Graduate School enrollment increased to a record number of 611 students in 2019—from 559 in 2018.
“We are seeing an increasing demand, especially for our graduate programs in education, clinical mental health counseling, business administration and nursing,” Dr. Kenneth Taylor, vice provost and dean of the Graduate School, said. “We are committed to providing career advancement opportunities for working professionals.”
The university began offering an online Master’s of Science in Nursing degree with two tracks, including Family Nurse Practitioner and Nursing Administrator in 2018. A Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership is in the final stages of approval.
The most popular declared freshman majors are biology, health science, business administration, aviation and elementary education.
