HSU Theatre to present 'Lost in Yonkers'

Henderson State University Theatre will present six performances of Lost in Yonkers by Neil Simon. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 26, 27, 28, 30 and Oct. 3 and 4, in the in the Arkansas Hall Studio Theatre.. A reception will follow the opening performance.

Simon's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play, set in 1942 Yonkers, New York, centers around two young brothers who live with their grandmother and their mentally challenged aunt while their recently widowed father travels, working to pay off a debt.

Over the course of the play, the young boys learn lessons about love, responsibility, and the importance of family that will carry them into adulthood.

The cast of Lost in Yonkers includes Natalie Gray of Hot Springs, Adrian Hinojosa of Hot Springs, Camden Keech of Conway, Hannah Mims of Fouke, Cecil Nicholson of Clinton, Ethan Schmidt of St. Louis, Missouri, and Addison Smith of Texarkana, Texas.

The play is under the direction of Claudia Beach, with scenic and lighting design by Douglas Gilpin, and costume and makeup design by William Henshaw. Student designers include Trey Smith, assistant sound. The assistant stage manager is Kylee Hancock of Fort Smith and the stage manager is Kirsten Shnaekel of Benton.

The HSU Theatre Box Office in Arkansas Hall will be open for advance ticket sales from 1-4 p.m. beginning on Monday, Sept. 23. All seats are reserved. Admission is $10, or free with an HSU student ID, courtesy of the Student Activities Board.

In November, HSU Theatre will perform Angel Street. Alabama Story is scheduled for February, followed by Pippin in April.
