Dr. Celya Taylor named provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Henderson State

Dr. Celya Taylor has been named provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Henderson State University. Taylor has more than 30 years of experience in education — including 24 years at Henderson in roles such as dean of faculty, associate vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean of Teachers College.

Henderson State University offers more than 85 academic programs through its Caver College of Aviation, Science, and Nursing; College of Business; College of Performing Arts and Sciences; and Teachers College. Graduate-level programs include business, nursing, education, counseling, developmental therapy and sport administration.

Taylor will provide leadership for the four academic colleges, graduate studies, advising, registrar, institutional research, assessment, accreditation, Huie Library and Honors College.

"Dr. Taylor has conducted all of her work at Henderson with poise, integrity and care. She holds tremendous respect among our faculty and staff, and I have always been impressed with the way she communicates both individually and with the campus at large,” Dr. Trey Berry, Henderson chancellor, said.

“I am very happy and grateful that Dr. Taylor will be leading our academic program as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. The future is bright with Dr. Taylor's vision at Henderson!”

Taylor earned a Bachelor of Science in business education from Grambling State University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Alabama and a Doctor of Education from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Taylor has served on the boards of Economics Arkansas and Economic Development Corporation of Clark County as well as the Baptist Health Medical Center Arkadelphia Advisory Board. She also has been a Council for the Accreditation for Educator Preparation (CAEP) Site Visitor and Higher Learning Commission Peer Reviewer.
